Postpartum Self-Care in 10 Minutes a Day, for the Breastfeeding Mother

Published July 22, 2026

Self-care as a breastfeeding mother isn't bubble baths, it's survival maintenance that also keeps your supply steady. Here's my realistic 10-minute version.

2 minutes: water and protein
Milk production runs on hydration. Keep a water bottle wherever you feed, and eat something with protein at each sitting. This isn't indulgence, it's fuel for the job your body is doing around the clock.

3 minutes: sunlight on your face
Step outside, even to the driveway. It resets your mood more than you'd think, and steadier moods support easier letdown.

5 minutes: text a friend back
Isolation is the hardest part of the fourth trimester, and it gets sharper when you're the one feeding every two hours while everyone else sleeps. Stay connected in small doses. You are not meant to do this alone.
